Meet AshleyBright

It’s long overdue that you meet Miss Ashley Bright! She’s a design guru, doodler extraordinaire and queen bee of distraction when she’s in the studio. Ashley is a full time corporate designer with Promar Designs and part time idea maker with Brightly Designed. When I am stuck on a concept, need a break from things or need some extra hands for production Ashley is there to help. Hopefully one day soon I will coax her inland to work with me full time. It seems only fitting that we have two Brights in Brightly Designed!

And don’t miss the video below – she does a mean harlem shake!

Erin and Tyler : A Fall Wedding

It’s been a long summer and I am beyond ready for fall to come! I have been so jealous of all the posts of people bundling up and decorating their houses as the weather cools. I love California, but there a things that I miss back east – fall is definitely one of them! So I figure it’s a great time to post a gorgeous fall wedding to get the season started! How gorgeous is this setting and how cute are they?? Notice she is wearing green Hunter boots! Adorable!

Erin and Tyler Fall Wedding

Erin and Tyler Fall Wedding Invitation

Erin and Tyler’s wedding was full of rich fall colors, trees, maps and lots of decor to represent their love of travel and adventure. The invitation suite featured a metallic pocketfold,  layers of trees, globes, design details mimicking aged photographs, and a hand drawn map. And one of my favorite things – a gorgeous set of vintage postage stamps to perfectly match the design!

Erin and Tyler Invitation and Placecard

Placecards were scrolled slips of paper wrapped around the flatware at each placesetting. Different colors represented the guests meal choice – such a fun way to add a touch of whimsy on the table!

Erin and Tyler Scrolled Map Escort Cards

The escort cards were scrolled maps with each square representing the table location at the reception. Tables were named after explorers and other various explorer facts. I studied portrait drawing in school and had so much fun doing pencil sketches for each of the explorer tables like Ernest Shackleton below.

Erin and Tyler Places You've Journeyed

There were so many fun paper details that kept the guests engaged in the evening. I made tags saying “Tyler was here” and “Erin was here” that the couple pinned all over a large map designating all the places they have journeyed. Guests were then asked to put map pins in places they had been – such a fun display! The sign in table was a wish tree that guests filled with colorful tags.

Other details included a poetry store where guests could have a poem written about them on the spot, and a fabulous photo wall. We designed the vinyl artwork, Amorology Weddings built the wall and added our paper banner streaming behind the plane. I LOVE how it turned out!

April and Aaron : A colorful wedding at Cal-A-Vie

April and Aaron’s wedding took place at Cal A Vie – have you seen this venue?? It’s up in my neck of the woods and it is gorgeous!! They have a beautiful 400 year old chapel from Dijon, France. It was the perfect setting for this colorful wedding for April and Aaron of True Photography. April is an amazing watercolor artist and designer herself so it was fun to collaborate with her and the Amorology team on the day of paper products. Her color palette was full of reds, corals, pinks, bright green, aqua and gold! This combo was so much fun to work with.

Guests were greeted by an avocado and a homemade guacamole recipe at their seat!

Wedding Sign in Table Signage

There were touches of watercolor and summer throughout in custom signage. I love this one “A life without love is like a year without summer”.

Wedding Flag Escort Cards

My favorite part of this wedding was the escort card display! I created colorful flags in various shapes and designs with each guests name and seating assignment. Mixed in were solid and striped hand gold-leafed flags. It added such a fun touch of vintage glam and worked perfectly with the vintage boat that Amorology displayed them in.

Honey Love! The 2012 US Grant Wedding Showcase, Love Etc.

I recently got to work on an amazing collaboration for the US Grant Wedding Showcase. Jen of Jen Likes took her inspiration from here and turned it in to one of the most stunning booths I have seen at a bridal show. Honey Valentine turned into Honey Love which inspired sweet honey favors, honey stick handouts, honeycomb patterns and a plethora of gorgeous details.

Bridal show booth, honey love

The table was filled with gorgeous white and gold details; gold honeycomb netting floating in the vases, gold flatware, bright florals, and gold-leafed paper details. There was a fun and modern photo backdrop made up of small various shaped photos from Shewanders Photography that appeared to be floating behind the table.

Honey tags, paper accordion quotes

I created paper accordion pieces that were placed above each plate to add a pop of color and give each guest a little smile when they read the song lyrics on the piece which are a favorite of the bride and groom. All of the paper pieces were created with hand gold-leafed details – I LOVE the irregularity and textural element that the gold-leaf adds to each piece.

Panel invitation

Gold leafed, panel invitation

The invitation was a three panel piece with a tear off rsvp postcard. It included color coordinated vintage stamps, gold-leafing and a modern mix of honeycomb and chevron patterns.

carnation florals

The carnations that Katherine of Root 75 used in the centerpieces were gorgeous! And this sweet pea arrangement below was so fun and whimsical I felt like it was going to get up and walk off the table!
