Lora and Gary : A Sleepy Hollow Wedding

November 30

Years ago I started researching a place to spend Christmas with my family. Somewhere in driving distance so lots of people could attend, somewhere beautiful, in the open, but that still held that feeling of home. I stumbled upon Figueroa Farmhouse and fell in love! So when Heather from Amorology Weddings asked me to be a part of Lora and Gary’s wedding and told me where it was I was overjoyed! This venue is gorgeous – a farmhouse, rolling hills, sunset views and beauty as far as the eye can see. Not only is the venue amazing but Lora and Gary’s vision was so unexpected and so fun. They wanted a beautiful elegant event but with touches of their favorite stories and shows – Twilight, Sleepy Hollow and True Blood. It seemed like a challenge, but with Heathers ideas and lots of fun design elements we made it all happen! The wedding was also featured on Green Wedding Shoes – see lots more photos here!

The invitations were created with burnt edges which Lora placed inside books and mailed to each guest. One of my favorite pieces from this wedding was the welcome book. Lora and Gary are from the UK so everyone traveled from out of town. The welcome book had all the details for guests staying at the farmhouse, events and even a farmhouse map to help them find their way around.

Guests found their way to their tables with curled tags displayed on pumkpins. Designs and decor had fun elements of the dark stories with crows, poppy seed favors and their favorite quotes from each story. But the decor was still strikingly feminine and beautiful at the same time to balance out the eerie touches.

Exquisite Weddings Fall/Winter 2015

November 20

I was so excited to be a part of an amazing photoshoot put together by Luxe Events and featured in the newest Exquisite Weddings Magazine. The scene was set on the beach at La Jolla Shores with a table filled with vintage bottles, seashells, and gorgeous florals by Root 75. If you don’t know me I am slightly obsessed with seashells, bottles, vintage salt and pepper shakers and any tiny antique object that seems to hold stories in its worn edges and chipped paint. So this table was filled to the brim with details I love. I was excited to add a few finishing touches from invitations with vintage stamps and velvet ribbon to curled menus and a gold leafed directional sign stuck in the sand.

There are two things I love to make – custom wedding maps and gold-leafed signs. This map was short and sweet but a perfect addition to the invitation suite to help the guests find their way down the path to the beach. And this sign – I just love how it turned out. I gave the wood a vintage white wash and then hand gold-leafed the bride and grooms names on the wood.

Twinkle and Toast added her gorgeous calligraphy with love letters and place cards.

Erin and Tyler : A Fall Wedding

October 8

It’s been a long summer and I am beyond ready for fall to come! I have been so jealous of all the posts of people bundling up and decorating their houses as the weather cools. I love California, but there a things that I miss back east – fall is definitely one of them! So I figure it’s a great time to post a gorgeous fall wedding to get the season started! How gorgeous is this setting and how cute are they?? Notice she is wearing green Hunter boots! Adorable!

Erin and Tyler Fall Wedding Invitation

Erin and Tyler’s wedding was full of rich fall colors, trees, maps and lots of decor to represent their love of travel and adventure. The invitation suite featured a metallic pocketfold,  layers of trees, globes, design details mimicking aged photographs, and a hand drawn map. And one of my favorite things – a gorgeous set of vintage postage stamps to perfectly match the design!

Erin and Tyler Invitation and Placecard

Placecards were scrolled slips of paper wrapped around the flatware at each placesetting. Different colors represented the guests meal choice – such a fun way to add a touch of whimsy on the table!

Erin and Tyler Scrolled Map Escort Cards

The escort cards were scrolled maps with each square representing the table location at the reception. Tables were named after explorers and other various explorer facts. I studied portrait drawing in school and had so much fun doing pencil sketches for each of the explorer tables like Ernest Shackleton below.

Erin and Tyler Places You've Journeyed

There were so many fun paper details that kept the guests engaged in the evening. I made tags saying “Tyler was here” and “Erin was here” that the couple pinned all over a large map designating all the places they have journeyed. Guests were then asked to put map pins in places they had been – such a fun display! The sign in table was a wish tree that guests filled with colorful tags.

Other details included a poetry store where guests could have a poem written about them on the spot, and a fabulous photo wall. We designed the vinyl artwork, Amorology Weddings built the wall and added our paper banner streaming behind the plane. I LOVE how it turned out!

April and Aaron : A colorful wedding at Cal-A-Vie

August 16

April and Aaron’s wedding took place at Cal A Vie – have you seen this venue?? It’s up in my neck of the woods and it is gorgeous!! They have a beautiful 400 year old chapel from Dijon, France. It was the perfect setting for this colorful wedding for April and Aaron of True Photography. April is an amazing watercolor artist and designer herself so it was fun to collaborate with her and the Amorology team on the day of paper products. Her color palette was full of reds, corals, pinks, bright green, aqua and gold! This combo was so much fun to work with.

Wedding Sign in Table Signage

There were touches of watercolor and summer throughout in custom signage. I love this one “A life without love is like a year without summer”.

Wedding Flag Escort Cards

My favorite part of this wedding was the escort card display! I created colorful flags in various shapes and designs with each guests name and seating assignment. Mixed in were solid and striped hand gold-leafed flags. It added such a fun touch of vintage glam and worked perfectly with the vintage boat that Amorology displayed them in.
